Friday marked the 25th anniversary of Challenger space shuttle disaster. Many can still recall the explosion that formed a Y sign across the sky leaving the space shuttle in debris and dust.. A large percentage of the public was watching it all unfold on live TV, even in schools. This was truly an unbelievable tragedy for everyone and especially for NASA.
TV played a very important role that day, mediating for millions the live feed of the Challenger launch and failure shortly after. Since it was all live, everybody was able to see the reality unfold before their eyes, and a very tragic one. It was a strong and shocking message both to the viewers at home as well as to those at the command center.
Were were you when this happened and what are your feeling about this?
Most importantly, how did the media handle this situation, was it right for them to keep broadcasting after the explosion and how did all of this affect NASA as a whole and their image?
Who will you trust in our media soaked world? How can you separate the truth from a distortion? This Blog is designed to discuss these issues we face each day as our minds absorb and filter out the necessary information from the media. Don't be afraid to speak your mind!
