Friday marked the 25th anniversary of Challenger space shuttle disaster. Many can still recall the explosion that formed a Y sign across the sky leaving the space shuttle in debris and dust.. A large percentage of the public was watching it all unfold on live TV, even in schools. This was truly an unbelievable tragedy for everyone and especially for NASA.
TV played a very important role that day, mediating for millions the live feed of the Challenger launch and failure shortly after. Since it was all live, everybody was able to see the reality unfold before their eyes, and a very tragic one. It was a strong and shocking message both to the viewers at home as well as to those at the command center.
Were were you when this happened and what are your feeling about this?
Most importantly, how did the media handle this situation, was it right for them to keep broadcasting after the explosion and how did all of this affect NASA as a whole and their image?
Who will you trust in our media soaked world? How can you separate the truth from a distortion? This Blog is designed to discuss these issues we face each day as our minds absorb and filter out the necessary information from the media. Don't be afraid to speak your mind!

S.Korean Navy's Victorious Day
Recently, S. Korea proved that they do not tolerate pirate activities against their own people. By the cover of night S.Korean Navy commandos stormed the hijacked ship by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean. The S.Korean officials have reported that the whole crew that was held hostage was freed and all of the Somali pirates were neutralized, some of whom were captured. Only one crew member was wounded during the raid, but he remains in non-life threatening condition.
Some say that this act proves the strong will of the government in times of need. S.Korean government clearly wants to prove to the world that it can takes matters into its own hands and wants to put an end to illegal pirate acts which threaten their people's lives.
Since there is no real government in Somalia pirates roam free. Somali pirates have been hijacking all kids of ships before this incident happened, taking the crew hostage and often demanding a ransom.
Not only S.Korea took an action against the pirates, other countries around the world are starting to join the fight against pirates as well e.g.France and Russia.
Will this pirate activity ever stop? Are the actions taken by countries like S.Korea right and will they ever work to stop the pirates?
From a media perspective, do you really believe all of the information S.Korea released about the raid is true and contains all the pieces? S.Korea clearly depends on its image and they surely wouldn't like to see that destroyed by the media.

What's your sign?
As some of you may already know, there is a recent buzz about the new zodiac sign change due to some new calculations made by astrology experts. It has something to do with the changing position of Earth in its orbit due to the Moon's gravitational pull. Due to that, the star constellation signs are moved a couple of days. However most of this information only applies to Easterners, as Westerners follow a different kind of Zodiac system (seasonal).
This really affected many people, who some may call superstitious, and made them question their own identities and beliefs. How will this affect our views on the whole Zodiac sign system? Does this really mean that our identities will change in the future or is just that astrology can't be trusted anymore and is not relevant to real life?
There are tons of questions connected with this particular issue, and not many answers as of yet.
What do you think? Feel free to speak your mind.
